Michael Jordan rightly said, “The mental part is the hardest part, and I think that’s the part that separates the GOOD players from the GREAT players.”

Mental strength creates a winning mindset. When you take the example of renowned sportspeople such as Roger Federer, Sachin Tendulkar, Sergey Bubka, Michael Phelps, and many others, you will find the importance of mental toughness in creating a winning mindset. When you are mentally tough, you do not play to lose, you play to win, and your thinking is beyond the average person’s mindset. As you are driven to succeed, you rise to the challenge and reach your full potential. When you are working at your highest potential, you reach peak performance, which gives you the advantage to win even when you are under pressure. As you achieve more and more wins, your mindset becomes firmer, and winning becomes your natural thinking mode. Mental toughness helps you create a winning mindset because it always encourages you for personal development.

Optimal performance is a marathon, not a sprint. Each step along the way moves them closer toward the ultimate goal. The mentally strong people are not embarrassed by mistakes, do not try to be perfect, push themselves to the max, and do the daily improvement. Mentally tough people take it easy as they know that they will make mistakes along the way, and these mistakes are critical turning points in their journey towards excellence. They do not make any excuses when things do not go their way; instead, they always try to find a way. Instead of playing the blame game, they take responsibility for their performance, go back to the drawing board, check where things went wrong, and try again.

Mentally tough people find opportunities to move out of their comfort zone and meet challenges with enthusiasm instead of anxiety. They are very much perseverant and understand that failure is another step in the journey towards accomplishment. They have the mindset that failure is not final and never quit pursuing their objectives. Mentally strong people focus on themselves, their talents, improving themselves, implementing their plan, and achieving the goals they set for themselves. Everybody should nurture and develop Mental strength with sincerity and discipline. Remember what Edmond Mbiaka said, “The strength of your mind determines the quality of your life.”
