Many people understand and acknowledge the importance of self-discipline but are not able to implement it. Self-discipline is the key to developing habits. Any habit to develop, whether small or big, requires a high level of self-discipline. Many try for this and leave after a few days. Others feel that it is too harsh, not their cup of tea, and therefore, they do not make any effort to get it.

Self-discipline is vital. It would not be wrong to say that without self-discipline development of good habits are not possible. People who live disciplined life make sure that they sleep on time and sleep enough every day. They get up early and take better charge of their day. They understand the importance of exercise and are engaged regularly. They have complete self-control and do not give in to temptation. On the other hand, those who lack self-discipline are inconsistent and looser. They are not self-controlled and easily tempted.

Self-discipline helps to develop good habits such as healthy eating habits. A self-disciplined person understands the importance of good habits, so he always goes for building good habits. For example, a person who eats healthy food can take better charge of his day and feel in control. He remains energetic throughout the day and gives a better chance to fulfill his goals. On the other hand, those who eat oily and sugar foods feel lethargic and out of control. They feel very little energy and are very tired of fulfilling their goals.

In my book Building Habits, I have explained many tools and techniques to build good habits.
